Education Update December 2017

2017 Accomplishments for Goal 1: Create a K-12 system that is recognized as a world-class asset

Fayette County Schools continue to excel with an increase across the board on the Georgia College and Career Ready Performance Index – or CCRPI – with a score of 89.8.  That is 14.8 points higher than the state’s overall score of 75.
Goal 2: Increase post secondary education opportunities in Fayette County

Last year, we celebrated Fayette County’s Center of Innovation which provides career training in partnership with local industry and Southern Crescent Technical College. Through this partnership, students can complete a post-secondary credential by the time they finish high school. Since the start of this partnership in 2015, 200 students are work-force ready having received credentials as Certified Nursing Assistants. Fayette County is looking to expand this program to include engineering and film.

Clayton State University‘s School of Nursing establishes a dedicated education unit with Piedmont Fayette.

Goal 3:  Actively support district teachers and staff

The 2017 ESPLOST ensures that our teachers and students have the best learning environments.  Half of the projects on the ESPLOST list are for facility renovations and upgrades.  ESPLOST funds will also upgrade classroom technology for teachers and students.
