Southern Crescent Chorale
Britannia Haydn’s “Lord Nelson Mass” and other Choral Classics
Our thirteenth Spivey Hall appearance features great choral classics including Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (Mass for troubled times) or Nelson Mass. Haydn’s chief biographer, H.C. Robbins Landon, wrote that this mass “is arguably Haydn’s greatest single composition”. Accompanied by a small professional orchestra and Spivey Hall’s magnificent Albert Schweitzer Memorial Organ, you’ll be enthralled with the Chorale’s powerful performance of this classical era work. Pieces by Scarlatti, Lauridsen, Stroope, and Widor will provide a glimpse into other musical era classics. The world-class acoustics of Spivey Hall make this concert a favorite of both patrons and singers. Having a treasure like Spivey Hall in the area is a marvelous opportunity. Take advantage of this musical treat!
Due to the overwhelming popularity of this concert, we encourage our patrons to purchase tickets in advance.
