Place Update December 2017

2017 accomplishments for Goal 1: Develop additional quality of life amenities

In April, the “Create Your Story” branding campaign was launched.  The campaign’s goal is to increase economic development and talent attraction while building community cohesiveness. Fayetteville and the Fayette Chamber were the first to update their logos to match the campaign. Fayette County and the Fayette County Development Authority have also updated their logos.  Other entities are in the process of updating their logos to be a part of the campaign.

The community and talent attraction website will be launched in January. Soon to follow will be a proactive marketing campaign to increase awareness and interest in Fayette County.

Our county continues to celebrate its beauty and art.  If you haven’t seen it yet, take a ride to look at the new mural that was unveiled two weeks ago in Peachtree City.

Goal 2: Encourage housing and development that appeals to a broad population of all ages

We are excited to see the new homes sprouting up at Pinewood Forrest. They have also launched a farmers market onsite.

We are excited that the PLACE Chair, Vicki Butler, has been named the 2018 President of the Fayette County Board of REALTORS.  Congratulations, Vicki!

Goal 3: Expand transportation infrastructure and mobility options

In March, Fayette County voters approved a SPLOST by a two-to-one margin.  Transportation is prominent in the list of projects that includes roads and multiuse cart paths throughout the county.

The 74 corridor carries nearly 37,000 passengers a day.  That is why the 74 Corridor Coalition sought and received a grant for a comprehensive study to establish a vision and implementation plan.  We look forward to seeing their recommendations in 2018.

Also, Fayette County is updating its comprehensive transportation plan which will include roads and a county-wide master path plan to balance the needs of pedestrians, cyclists and golf cart users.  To provide input, please complete this survey that takes about 10 minutes to complete.
